南アフリカでは 《スタハノフ流スプリングボックスでは》 コーチが冷たい視線を浴びせ、当該選手に10回の腕立て伏せを命ずる。
NZでは、ある選手がボールを落とすと 練習を止め、その選手を立たせて、残りの選手たちが腕立て伏せをする。（p243）

なるほど なるほど… じゃあ ニッポンは どうしているのだろうか？
エレロ 父親が フランコ政権下のスペインから亡命してフランスに そして 労働者として働き・ラグビーをプレーする（父親が 休日 フランス共産党のビラを配っていた）。亡命者＝移民の多くは フランス社会に馴染む・溶け込むために 地域のスポーツクラブに所属した。そうした中から エレロであり 前々フランスＨＣ：ギィ・ノベスであり 幾多の名選手も生まれてきた。彼らの多くは おそらく 穏健左派として 根付いてきた。
2001年に出版されたこの本では まだ 白人中心のRSAが描かれている。
では 今日のRSAは？
昨年出版された RSA・ロック・エツベツの自伝（『Unlocked:The Must-Read Rubgy Memoir of 2025(English Edition)』（Etzebeth, Eben）では 2017年の事象を 次のように振り返っている。

Rassie had been in charge for just a few games when he sat us all down and brought up what he referred to as ‘the elephant in the room’. He explained that there were people in South Africa who didn’t like transformation but we needed to embrace it.
‘In this team,’ he said,’transformation is about more than certain guys playing because they’re black or white, it’s about accepting and respecting each other’s cultures.’ Because if we did that, he said, people would feel comfortable being themselves and play better on the weekend. As such, we’d be more likely to win together, and the more we won together, the quicker we’d transform the mindset of the South African public.
Rassie had a set of rules that every player had to abide by but he also knew he couldn’t treat everyone the same. An Afrikaner who went to a farm school in the Boland is likely to be different from a black guy who grew up in a township or someone from a wealthy family who attended an exclusive school in Cape Town. The coaching staff understood that they had to be empathetic to individual needs within a framework that applied to everyone.
Rassie homed in on the fact that black players liked to sing and dance before a game while white players preferred peace and quiet (in South African rugby, you don’t really get guys who scream, shout and headbutt walls). He’d noticed that some players were irritated by the singing and dancing and realized that a compromise needed to be struck.
‘If you want to sing and dance before a game,’ he said, ’you can do that. And if you want to sit quietly and not talk to anyone, you can do that as well. That means guys who want to sing and dance might have to tone down, and certainly will need to give guys who want peace and quiet some space; and guys who want peace and quiet mustn’t get grumpy about guys singing and dancing and tell them to shut up. It can’t be like the old days, when the changing room was silent before a game or certain songs were played. We are a transformed team, different players come from different cultures and have different beliefs, and we must find a way that works everyone.’(p127)
